Summary: A Bungled Heist
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga — The story of the film is based on Neha and her boyfriend Ankit who plan to steal a box full of diamonds during a flight; encapsulating this gory tale in just over two hours seems like an adventure no director would wish to embark upon. But when we see the details of their expertly orchestrated heist, things go south really fast when baddies hijack their plane. However, Neha and Ankit get into a life-threatening situation on text as the heist!
But the screenplay remains a nice roller coaster in terms of plot developments as Layers and layers are unveiled and unpeeled. The film keeps you on your toes from start to finish with twists and turns that change everything. With a subplot centered around hijacking, the usual heist narrative is enriched by a new layer of anxiety. Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga Review: A gripping heist thriller with twists
Performances: Yami Gautam And Sunny Kaushal Sparkle
Neha, played to purposefulness by Yami Gautam, is caught between the rush of a heist and the horror of a hijacking. As she contends with the ordeal, Gautam deftly conveys a wide spectrum of emotions whilst embodying the part with keen vulnerability and strength. Neha works as her character’s desperation, trust issues, and resolve are played with determination by Neha being a strong protagonist.
In the role of Ankit, Sunny Kaushalcontinues to impress. The role of the man on the brink, this character attempting to maintain his grip on an event spinning out of control, is a great source of added tension in the film. The chemistry between Kaushal and Gautam is required when the story moves towards the unfolding drama. The arc of his character who goes from a suave thief to surviving for dear life is neatly kept.
Among the current releases, Sharad Kelkar is the only one who has a decent part as a cop investigating the heist and hijacking. His screen presence alone and his controlled acting generate a degree of much-needed anticipation towards the climax of the film. It is equally important to mention his exchange with the rest of the characters as they lead to some of the most gripping scenes in the film. Direction & Cinematography: A Ride Worth Experiencing
Even though it is loose in terms of storyline due to Ravikumar’s lazy writing, the direction is on the tip by Ajay Singh and that ensured a quicker pace as well as built tension at places. The mix of a heist going down with a hijacking begets circumstances with sky-high stakes that Singh can maintain using tight edits and expertly choreographed action scenes. Though the overall vibe is kept dark and gritty, Singh manages to mix in splashes of action, suspense, and drama throughout the movie.
The camera work conveys the enclosed feeling inside airplanes and makes the high-tech, slick world of the heist visually interesting. Natural light turns characters into silhouettes, too-tight close-ups are nothing but gulping lips during high-pressure moments and the heaving wides make fantastic hectic action scenes. The camera work in this opening also adds an extra layer of tension, keeping the viewer with the same feelings of being trapped that our characters have on the plane.
Screenplay – full of suspense and twists
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga is an edge-of-the-seat screenplay filled with twists and turns you least expect. It challenges the plot and makes it, in a way, hungrier; more complicated, or layered with the themes of mistrust among survivors (especially against Sikander), greed, and the basic essence of survival. All the twists though, yes they add a little spice especially when certain reveals are made but plot aside you can tell that as each twist is introduced it opens up more characters and reasons, so everything feels kinda of fresh and still unpredictable.
By splicing together a diamond heist with a plane hijacking, the film presents extreme narratives in which one does possess that sudden power over your fate. The dialogue is quick and curt to keep the plot moving swiftly. The film maintains soul into the central conflict by not including any unneeded subplots.
Global FOCUS Greed Trust Survival Theme CURRENT ISSUE
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga revolves around the ideas of greed, trust, and survival – at its heart. Demonstrating the lengths we go to when greed takes hold, and how important trust is in these two cases. It’s directed by Tejas M. Malusare, and this one follows Neha (Manisha Kanojia) and Ankit’s ((Sumit Manak) relationship who come under the test of deadly situations with each questioning other’s motives.
The main narrative point to note from the movie is that of survival as the movie goes on. With the hijackers and SWAT both bearing down on them, the people aboard must figure out if they are willing to put their mission before — or behind or beside — themselves. This never-ending tug of war between what WE would do to preserve OUR lives as opposed to running into a burning building for someone that you care about is what keeps the film tense throughout.
