Once again Telugu Cinema Industry has proved its uniformity of having the OORA MASS presentational quality through this Emotional Action film “DASARA” directed by Srikanth Odela.Dasara is a film set against the backdrop of a small village in Telangana that highlights themes like friendship, power struggle, love, and revenge using well-woven characters. Starring the very cute Nani in the male lead role, the movie throws you up down, and everywhere with emotions and action.
Plot Overview
Dasara is based in the coal-rich village of Veerlapally, Telangana, where the lives of locals revolve around the local mine called Silikarhara. Set against the backdrop of some beautiful locations in Kerala, the story traces the life of Dharani (Nani), a carefree young man and an absolute rebel. In his rights, Dharani lives in the company of Suri (Dheekshith Shetty) and Vaidehi’s friend, Vennela (Keerthy Suresh).
The story takes a turn for the worse, however, and we see Dharani with his friends living an undisturbed life until the local political power struggle reaches them. As he hence crosses swords against the prevailing and twisted political forces that rule the village, Dharani finds himself embroiled in a web of deceit, revenge, and betrayal. The movie rides high on the comeback theme of vengeance/ justice that ends with a grand climactic face-off between Dharani and his arch-enemies.
Why You Should Watch “Dasara”
Career Performance For Nani
The film “Dasara” revolves around a career-defining act from Nani as he completely transforms himself out of his boy-next-door image to become the plainspoken but rugged and rebellious Dharani. The passionate diction cliche complements Nani, with all due respect, in a different light: as a man driven by boyhood, L-U-V, and the ultimate revenge. Seeing his evolution from a mild teenager to a vengeful yet valorous young man is one of the positive parts of this film.
Nani’s raw and intense act, as he bears his emotional vulnerabilities, makes Dharani a character that audiences will root for. His dialogue, body language, and action sequences show the meticulous preparation done by this man for playing the part of The Joker, in every scene.
Supporting Role by Keerthy Suresh
The young Keerthy Suresh was Vennela who is the turning point for emotional gravitas realized in the film. Despite maybe deserving a little more screen time, she makes an impression of a woman trapped between love and loyalty. Her chemistry with Nani and Dheekshith Shetty is amazing, and that keeps the emotional stakes of the film higher.
Gritty and Realistic Setting
Among others, something we loved about ‘Dasara’ is the realistic representation of Telangana’s rural scenario. The visuals of the movie– dusty roads, coal mines, and a real dusting of local culture add gritty showing making it a life-like place as you cannot feel any disconnect from the story. Sathyan Sooryan gives a picturesque portrayal of the village and its people, making Veerlapally come alive on screen.
The dark themes of ambition, treachery, and retribution are echoed in the woodsy settings that stand out against lavishly colorful wardrobes. The real settings, and the detail in costume and set design, add an element of verite to the storytelling.
Part 1: Action Sequences and the Directome
First-timer Director Srikanth Odela has written detailed intense action sequences where natural awakening movement does not let the audience sleep lacklustre. There is no shortage of high-adrenaline action sequences especially in the second part and they have been very well choreographed and executed. The above sequences, along with the emotional drama are that perfect mix of action and emotion.
The story has never slowed down, thanks to Odela. Choosing to center on the emotional arcs of these characters, all while bringing the action makes both films a successful piece of cinema. The climax round has an amazing build-up, where tensions are mounted and released at the perfect time.
Music and Background Score
The background score of ‘Dasara’ is by Santhosh Narayanan and it fits the bill with his brand of music when it comes to elevating key emotions, and action scenes. These songs are native to the environment they exist in, and aid in narrating the story within Telangana.
The background and action sequences are heart-pounding. The movie is rustic and so is the background music of Narayanan which serves to enhance moments that resonate with characters at an emotional level. Romantic number “Chamkeela Angeelesi” has managed to top the charts but it has also added a romantic flavor to an otherwise non-love story that is FUKREY.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths:
Best Actor: Nani — His performance as Dharani is the biggest plus for the film.

Strong Direction: Srikanth Odela’s storytelling keeps gripped with the perfect blend of Action and Emotion.
Supporting cast:Keerthy Suresh and Dheekshith Shetty did a good job when it came to huge stars like Nani.
Weaknesses:
The first half is surely much slower as it does the heavy lifting of introducing the characters, settings, and rules while things explode all over the place in dimensional-break-neck-speeds throughout the second half.
Unexplored character of Vennela: Although Keerthy Suresh was great in her role, the character could have been explored more.
