Abhishek Kapoor, OMG 2, the follow-up to the blockbuster film OMG – Oh My God! com, explores contemporary social issues in a funny, dramatic, and deeply intelligent narrative. OMG, 2 sends out an important message along with the entertainment & which makes this fantastic film a win-win for everyone, directed by Amit Rai featuring Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam. The movie is bare on the soul of its forerunner. It holds fast to principal themes like inadequate sexual education, hard lines in religious doctrine, and traditional aspects of culture without running short of social commentary. OMG2, an intense performance of social satire is a must-watch for everyone in 2023.
Plot Overview
The film tells the story of Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a devout Hindu man (played by Pankaj Tripathi), whose world turns upside down when his teenage son is embroiled in a school scandal. What soon escalates from an embarrassing incident of misinformation about sex-ed into a legal tussle when it comes to speaking volumes on the prudery with Indian society perceives sex education at its core. God asks for help from the good man Kanti, who needs Akshay Kumar as a message of lord shiva who directs and supports this important war.
School mandates crayons for sex ed; Kanti takes on the school and its policy of archaism that goes so far outside the box, she wonders why a country with such spiritual heritage is afraid of…sex. But OMG 2 tackles this issue head-on, even making tearful somber yet uplifting moments feel grounded and powerful, while humorous exchanges remain light-hearted — without fearing to lose its viewers along the way.
Performances
Akshay Kumar, playing a holy one only to cover the backing role portion with him playing Lord Krishna or someone from past ages in OMG and given the part of hindmost date of God Shiva runner. He acts in a very composed and subtle manner, which is infused with great grace as we can easily feel the essence of spirituality and wisdom from him. While of course, the character also has a minor role and is mostly seen more through a glass darkly than not (compared to in 2018), Akshay Kumar walks whenever called upon and ends up offering both moral guidance.
But Pankaj Tripathi is the star of Jawani Janeman for his career-best act. Tripathi, as the man who can do almost anything and with such natural ease, carries the film on his shoulders. Please find below an article explaining a common man fighting an exceptional battle as an example to share the real character of our Super Star Rajinikanth. He makes the journey of Kanti Sharan Mudgal not only honest but equally humorous and passionate.
Yami Gautam, as the lawyer fighting against Kanti in the courtroom, is equally impactful. She comes at you with a sharp, well-executed argument, and she easily conveys the skepticism of conservatism that is so frequently seen in societal constructs. Yami’s courtroom sequences are in sync with Pankaj Tripathi and one can feel the depth of it which lays tension at the core of the movie
Direction and Screenplay
Amit Rai who has managed to dabble with myriad hues of sensitive subjects in the past now does it with a clear sense when OMG 2. The film toes the line between humor and brutally realistic drama and from a direction standpoint, it works to keep us entertained while thinking about the issue. Rai makes sure that the film does not turn into a sermon, leading the story to progress naturally. This way Hussaini gets us to root for Kanti not against a proxy for institutionalized injustice but our understanding and stunted views on the all-important if socially condemned thing of Sex Education.
This screenplay is a rare mix of satire, drama, and next-level spirituality just like its first part. While the first part only raised questions about religious rituals, OMG 2 takes this to another level and asks if sexual education isn’t necessary too in today’s world. The film achieves well in portraying the important message it carries, without sounding pretentious and preachy.
Cinematography and Music
Capturing small-town India is director Ravi Jadhav in a manner only he can, and the cinematography by Amalendu Chaudhary adds value to it. The visual interpretation in this movie, especially those that featured Akshay Kumar was magnificently captured and it developed a sense of spirituality which is very apt for such a theme.
Vikram Montrose and Hansraj Raghuwanshi’s background score and music help the emotional moments of the film as well so does create a good atmosphere for its spiritual scenes. Treatment: Sometimes nicely added like “Har Har Mahadev” makes this song a perfect match with the narrative and elevates a couple of scenes. Without saying too much: the music brings a nice extra touch to the movie that resonates with its spiritual undertones, and kind of enriches the experience.
Social Commentary and Themes
OMG 2 is, in essence, a film about education, awareness, and, breaking the barriers of culture. The film talks about the rampant sex education issues in India which erupt from a slew of ignorance and unawareness that can have far-flaming results, especially within its younger populace. Kanti’s legal fight highlights the hypocrisies and failings of our institutions and its blind allegiance to obsolete traditions and norms above the well-being of humanity.
It also delves into issues of belief, spirituality, and maturation. Kanti’s dependence on Klarind is the kind of divine intervention that we all secretly desire, an internal battle between the fervor for tradition and the doubt that always tries to claw its way back. This journey of transformation is not just about his son, but also a new chapter for himself and his community as he fights the stigmas associated with sexual education.
At a broad level, OMG 2forces the audience to question how modernity can live alongside faith. It is a powerful statement about how education can change society by producing more educated and rational individuals.

OMG 2 is an audacious and relevant cinematic intervention made via a high degree of Succession as spirituality wrapped in laughter laced with the resilience of the human experience. An engaging narrative combined with brilliant performances by Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar make this film a solid pick for anyone keen on watching meaningful cinema that is both entertaining as well as educational. Just as the previous film, which requires major logistical manipulation to justify the storyline and gimmick with legalities virtually absent in the sequel, OMG 2brilliantly addresses such contemporary issue of sexual education by tapping its potential to offer a significant cause-and-effect sequel following a defensible prologue.
