Plot Overview
It follows the story of four women from different sections of society who, despite their differences in background, come together to take a road trip to the Himalayas. Performance Analysis
Because “Dhak dhak” has its meat where it should be. best of performances from a top-drawer cast. Ratna Pathak Shah as always is superb, playing a been-there-done-that woman bursting wide open to life again and later in her years. She brings an entire wealth of knowledge and grace to the film with her character. Both Dia Mirza and Sanjana Sanghi serve up genuinely believable portrayals, with a fair bit of soul and a whole lot of relatable down-to-earthness in their characters respectively.
It is however Fatima Sana Shaikh who leaves a mark with her performance essaying a spirited and emotionally loaded rebel who wants to break free from both her past and societal norms. The ensemble cast has a natural way with one another, making their time on screen together riveting and sincere.
Story, Screenplay, and Camera Work
For the song “Dhak Dhak”, Tarun Dudeja has done a commendable job. He finds the perfect balance between humor, drama, and poignancy in every second of his characters’ journeys that a tear will come to your eye you so Dickensian soul. With just enough twists and heart-pulling pulls to keep its audience engaged, the screenplay is tight and enjoyable.
There is also some very nice cinematography by Sushil Rajpal. But the truly drop-dead sequences of Himalayan vistas as a backdrop to their exploits by these women, are breathtaking. The film occasionally feels like it is climbing up that mountain, but makes successful use of the rugged landscape to remind the audience both metaphorically and literally where this emotional journey will take them.
Music and Soundtrack
Dhak Dhak in Independence Day mode is a superb fit and the music complements the mood and message of this impeccably. The music has been composed by Hitesh Sonik who has beautifully managed to capture the spirit of an adventurous and soulful road trip. The songs weave through the story, underlining numerous emotional beats without overtaking the rest of the narrative. The background score also adds a nice touch to the scenes, especially for the heavier and more pensive moments.
